I’m the kind of person who gets, in my opinion, a brilliant idea then I am all in. For example recently I have taken up both snowshoeing and knitting (we’ll save the snowshoeing for a different post). Now my grandmother tried for years to teach me to crochet and I was an epic failure so when this whole knitting loom thing came around game on. Of course I found a coupon bought the most cost-effective set of long looms, got a couple of colors of yarn, watched a YouTube video and away I went. Of course I’m now about 12 things of yarn in, a full Pinterest board later and have a whole second set of circle looms hanging out in my living room. What have I made so far? A scarf for me (and at 5′ 10″ this was quite a task), a hat for a doll or small child with a brave parent, half a scarf for my daughter and there is yarn that could become something for my other half.
This is the kind of overkill I am famous for, as the kind of person that seriously struggles to sit still I get completely captivated by something new. I then must learn as much as possible and eventually will move on. I will usually circle back to that project later but storage can become a serious problem. The other issue is budget. It’s very easy to invest more in a new project, skill etc. than I originally planned on. Such as not realizing how much yarn I’d need to buy for my various projects and it quickly spiraling.
As someone who just can’t say no to a good time I needed a solution for my craft-lust. So enter DarbySmart, a company that will send my a box each month for $19 that has a brand new project in it for me to try. There are all the supplies right there in the box and I go online for the instructions. If you buy many months at a time you do get quite the discount. I’m only on my first one which using a coupon I paid $9 for. I wanted to try them out a bit before committing to bulk purchasing several months at a time and risk filling my house with clutter. But so far its a great way for me to scratch my creative itch while not having to commit a large investment to a new project for skill set. Pictures below!
My first DarbySmart craft! Turned there ring trays into coasters with a little felt.
